4 Ways to Get Involved in the Help the Homeless Campaign Today!
The annual Help the Homeless campaign is in full swing, and LSS/NCA needs your participation! We have set a lofty goal of 850 walkers to participate on our behalf this year. ALL funds raised through the Help the Homeless campaign directly support the neighbors we serve through:
+ REFUGEE/IMMIGRANT SERVICES, helping refugees rebuild their lives in our community
+ FOSTER CARE, serving children in need of safe, loving, permanent homes
+DISASTER RELIEF, supporting families in our neighborhoods or who move to our region in the wake of natural disasters.
4 Easy Ways to Get Involved!
1.) Gather a group of teens and/or adults to participate in the Help the Homeless Walkathon on the National Mall on Saturday, November 21. We will send you registration materials and promotional items to enlist a passionate group or sign up online today at __www.helpthehomelessdc.org__ and designate __LSS/NCA (DC052)__. Adult hikers are asked to register with a minimum contribution of $25. Any group with at least 25 walkers will be able to enjoy coffee hour refreshments for their congregation as a show of our gratitude. Can't make the Walk on Nov. 21? Join our agency mini-walk Oct. 31!
2.) Organize a service project to benefit one of LSS/NCA's programs, including Refugee and Immigrant Services, Disaster Relief, or Foster Care. There are endless possibilities for gathering donations or assisting with needed hands-on projects this fall. We strongly encourage inter-generational groups. A 30-minute presentation on the programs/services of LSS/NCA and its work to prevent homelessness will be provided to your group. Middle school and high school students will be eligible to earn service learning hours for their participation.
3.) Sponsor a mini-walk for children to raise funds and homelessness awareness among kids and families. You set the location, date and time. We provide a 30 minute educational experience before your walk (or on walk day) as well as registration materials and other promotional materials. This program is ideal for youth teams and organizations. All child and youth hikers who register with a minimum contribution of $15 receive a free T-shirt for the event.
4.) Sponsor a child or adult walking in the Help the Homeless Walk on behalf of LSS/NCA who cannot afford to register. Several neighbors we serve want to particpate in the Walk on behalf of LSS/NCA but cannot afford to register. Sponsor their participation by making a check payable to LSS/NCA for the number of walkers you want to sponsor ($15 per youth walker and $25 per adult walker). Mail your checks to:
