Meet Melissa Graves
LSS/NCA Executive Director
Melissa Graves is the Executive Director of Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSS/NCA). Prior to serving as Executive Director, she served as LSS/NCAs Director of Development. Ms. Graves earned a Masters of Public Administration from George Mason University and has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and development at social service and human service agencies in the region. From the Executive Director
Service is a cornerstone of the Lutheran faith. In fact, one in 50 Americans is touched by a Lutheran organization each year. For more than 90 years Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area has been serving our neighbors in need as a way of expressing Gods love.
Each year LSS/NCA is privileged to walk with our neighbors as they rebuild their lives. Our services offer hope to thousands each year in the DC-metro region through Adoption and Foster Care, Disaster Response and Preparedness, Refugee and Immigrant Services, and Youth Haven Camps.
I am honored to work with a staff who truly place value on:
- Respect
- Quality
- Integrity
- Inclusion
- Empowerment
We invite you to view our website to learn more about us and the services we provide. Everyone deserves to be offered a beacon of hope in their darkest hour. LSS/NCA plans to be that beacon for generations to come.
In Peace and Service,

Melissa K. Graves
