REFUGEE & IMMIGRANT SERVICES CLIENT SERVICES

CLIENT SERVICES achieves the work of resettlement through contracts with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS) to provide Reception and Placement assistance to refugees and their sponsors. Currently, the clients being resettled are from the former Yugoslavia, Vietnam, Somalia, the Sudan, and Iraq.

In addition, the Early Self-Sufficiency Program serves as an alternative to welfare for newly arriving refugees. The participation of sponsors and volunteers, together with donations, is documented and matched by federal funds. The goal is to find employment for the refugee as soon as possible.

Also, the Social Support Service provides administrative support, emergency transportation, and interpretation services to refugees in Prince George and Montgomery Counties.
