Community Outreach Services

 

Goal:  to connect members of the community with relationships and tools to help them increase their compassion and mobilize their support for the needs of refugees.

bullet

Volunteer involvement provides additional support and resources on behalf of refugee clients.  Volunteers assist through educational and cultural opportunities, including English language tutoring, social outings, arts programs, and special events.

bullet

Education and advocacy in the form of presentations to school and church groups, a quarterly newsletter, and updates on legislative issues allow opportunities for the community to learn about refugees and immigrants.

bullet

Asylum counseling offers legal, immigration services in the application, representation at the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), and advocacy and support through the asylum process.
