Camp Safe Haven--Maryland

Every child deserves a chance to enjoy the outdoors and to be included in the bonds of caring friendships. 

When HIV-AIDS touches the life of a young person, those opportunities for normal life are diminished.

LSS partners with the Safe Haven Project, Inc.  to sponsor a week of respite and renewal for young people in the Washington, DC and Baltimore areas.

Campers come from many walks of life, many living with the loss or chronic illness of other family members, as well as the realities of daily life in poverty.   Campers pay nothing to attend Safe Haven Maryland.

 

Round-the-clock nurses provide support and education for young people managing a life-threatening illness.

Counselors and activity leaders provide enrichment and stability.

 

 

This special program depends on hundreds of hours of volunteer time and the special gifts of donors and foundations.  If you would like to offer your time or resources to help strengthen Safe Haven, contact the Volunteer Services Office!
